Mr. & Mr. Organized: Our Brief Homestead History

Prior to 2021 we were your average hard working suburban young couple. He owned a residential framing company and she originated home loans until we became fed up with living the suburban life and ready for an adventure. We started this adventure by remodeling and selling the home we lived in. We bought a travel trailer to live in it while we prepared to buy a piece of property. This was our home for almost two years when Grandpa Cowboy approached us about the opportunity to help him finish and maintain the property.

We moved up to the homestead full-time as of November 1, 2022. As we unloaded the last truckload of our belongings it started snowing and did not stop. From that point until late spring our only option for access was braving over a mile of steep switchbacks on a snowmobile. We jumped in headfirst and have learned so many lessons, fortunately for you we learned a lot of these lessons the hard way so you don’t have to!

Our Professional Backgrounds: Life away from the Homestead.

Mrs. Organized

About Me:

In a “previous life” or so it feels, I was a mortgage lender for several years. I loved helping people buy their home buying process, unfortunately after the covid refi boom the market activity slowed dramatically and I was forced to make a change.  At this point, I started my journey as a yoga teacher and off-grid homemaker. In the early days of “Reclaiming” our family’s semi-abandoned homestead, I realized I had an affinity and passion for organization. So much so that I was inspired to start a Professional Organization service. (Neatly)

When I’m not busy teaching yoga, organizing, or working on projects around the homestead, I love learning about the plants that grow in our area and how they can be utilized as food, medicine, or crafting materials.

Mr. Organized

About me:

Ok so the pseudonym might be a bit misleading, I want to start with the disclaimer I certainly am not the organized one in this partnership though I am improving…

With that out of the way, my strengths are more in line with that of a handyman. My background is heavily construction-focused. For a little over a decade I have been in the trades and have experience from installing outdoor kitchens to full home remodels and framing multi-million dollar homes. I have been incredibly fortunate to learn from some of the best tradespeople in various industries and feel it is my responsibility to pass down the craft to future generations.

I currently manage a branch as a local full-service restoration contractor where a great part of my responsibility is to plan and produce restoration projects.

A special thank you to the OG Homesteader: Grandpa Cowboy

Thank You GC!

Grandpa Cowboy is the og homesteader in these parts. He moved to this property over 20 years ago, he spent many of those years braving cold snowy winters and scorching hot summers in just a wall tent. In 2012 he started building “the cabin”, unfortunately, due to changes in health, the build progress was halted just before completion. It is our honor to pick up where Grandpa Cowboy left off. We are incredibly fortunate to still have him with us as he is full of wisdom despite his body not being what it used to be. We are beyond grateful to be a part of the legacy he has built and feel honored to maintain it. Without him none of this would be possible.
